All Romestead Bosses

Last updated: 2026-07-05

Romestead has five bosses in Early Access, and each one gates the next tier of the game — a new biome, a new gear set, a new stretch of progression. This is the hub: every boss in the intended order, where to find it, what it drops, and which to fight first. Tap any boss for the full mechanics walkthrough.

The short version

Fight order: Guardian of Minerva (Giant Owl)Cyclops → then the three Volcanic bosses — Pyzifax, the Great Phoenix, and the Talos Prototype. It tracks the biome progression outward from the Plains to the volcanic edge.

1. Guardian of Minerva (Giant Owl)

The first boss and a day-one progression gate in the Plains. You can't meaningfully advance until it's down — clearing it unlocks the Carpenter's Workshop, the Blacksmith, the Logistics Tent, and the Feathered armor tier. The reliable strategy is a ring of 8 Automatic Scorpio turrets for a near-no-hit kill. Full Giant Owl guide →

2. Cyclops

The Desert boss — and the one every other site gets wrong. It's in the High Temple of the Satyrs, not the dungeon called "The Eye." Beating it drops the Granite Tooth, the Tectonic armor set, and the Traveler's Coin, and marks your power spike for the push toward the Volcanic biome. Full Cyclops guide →

3. Pyzifax

The first of the three Volcanic bosses. A Satyr boss with a fireball phase, tied to the Declaration of War siege item — you can trigger a Satyr raid to farm it. Drops were updated in the 0.25.1_7 patch. Full Pyzifax guide →

4. Great Phoenix of Arabia

A mobile firebird (~1200 HP) in the southern Volcanic lava fields, summoned by destroying its stone-ringed altar. Its resistances are the whole fight: it shrugs off magic and fire but is weak to physical/aqua — so a bow beats scrolls here. Being airborne, it can't be turret-cheesed. Full Phoenix guide →

5. Talos Prototype

The endgame boss, inside the Temple of Vulcan, and the toughest in the game at ~1800 HP. It's a puzzle fight, not a damage race: phase one has four weakpoints (only the blue-glowing one is hittable) guarded by laser statues you destroy with thrown stones; phase two confines you while adds pour in. Drops the Core Vessel, Talos Plate, and Talos Bolt. Full Talos guide →

Which boss first? Difficulty order

The fight order above is the difficulty order — Romestead ramps cleanly:

Gear-check each boss

Every boss is really a check on the previous tier's gear. Build toward the Owl with Bronze/Iron, toward the Cyclops with Feathered, and into the Volcanic fights with Tectonic and beyond. See the weapons & armor tier list for what to equip at each stage, and pick a build that suits the fight (a bow build, for instance, trivialises the Phoenix).

The unreleased sixth boss

A sixth boss — referred to in the game files as a "Robot" — exists in the data but isn't playable yet. Expect it to arrive with one of the roadmap biomes (Swamp or Ruined City). We track it on the roadmap page and will add a full guide the moment it's live.

Common questions

How many bosses are in Romestead?

Five are playable in Early Access — the Guardian of Minerva (Giant Owl), the Cyclops, Pyzifax, the Great Phoenix of Arabia, and the Talos Prototype. A sixth ("Robot") exists in the files but isn't playable yet.

What's the first boss?

The Guardian of Minerva (Giant Owl) — a day-one gate in the Plains. Clearing it unlocks the Carpenter's Workshop, Blacksmith, and Logistics Tent, plus the Feathered armor tier.

What order should I fight the bosses in?

Guardian of Minerva (Plains) → Cyclops (Desert) → the three Volcanic bosses: Pyzifax, the Great Phoenix, then the Talos Prototype. It follows the biome progression outward.

What's the hardest boss?

The Talos Prototype (~1800 HP, the highest in the game), in the Temple of Vulcan. It's a puzzle fight around four weakpoints and laser statues rather than a straight damage race.

What's the endgame in Romestead?

The Volcanic biome is the current endgame — its three bosses (Pyzifax, the Great Phoenix, and the Talos Prototype) and the top Flamen Volcanalis gear tier. After that it's settlement optimisation and sandbox play until the roadmap biomes (Swamp, then Ruined City) arrive.

Where is the Cyclops?

In the High Temple of the Satyrs in the Desert — not "The Eye," which is the wrong location on many other sites. It drops the Granite Tooth, Tectonic armor, and the Traveler's Coin.
